Blanche: All right girls, I want to present Blanche Devereaux's
latest creation... I took an 84-year-old woman and made her look like a
65 year old drag queen! Then I said to myself, "Blanche, too much
rouge."

So, the background: Sophia has a major crush on Tony, but Tony only sees her as a friend. So sad, maybe it's the wicker purse, glasses on a chain and the puffy yellow sweater you constantly wear (also one in green). So, in comes Blanche to save the day and give Sophia a new, sexy style that Tony will die for.
Sophia comes out in this little number, and it really isn't that bad. Ok, maybe not on an 80 year old, but all in all she looks pretty good. The best part though? The boobs. She's got some huge padding going on up there, and it is very obvious, and very awkwardly placed. Something about Sophia in heels also throws me off, I feel like she's going to tip and break a hip. I also love that nothing about the granny hair was changed. AWESOME!
Also, check the shoulder pads on Dorothy. Linebacker, much?
*Note: the woman who plays Yvonne is Hilary Shepard, who was also in Private Resort with Johnny Depp. I only mention this because she has a hideously ugly face on top of that decent body.
Oh Baby, this is the motherload of favourite moments! Mother Cluckin' Henny Penny!
So, for you morons out there who don't know the awesomeness that is Henny Penny, let me drop some learnin' on your ass. Dorothy's school gets to put on a school play to get children interested in reading. Her class picks Henny Penny, then they all die of the plague. Ok, not really. But they do get sick and all have to drop out. However the shown must go on, and so Rose, Blanche and Sophia all pitch in to make the play a success.
Do I need to tell you the story of Henny Penny? Well, I'm not going to. Look it up you lazy jerks. I know you have the internet!
Rose gets the titular role of Henny Penny, a clueless twit who gets hit in the head by an acorn and thinks the sky is falling. Blanche is Goosey Loosey, because she's a ho. Dorothy is naturally Turkey Lurkey, and she steals the show with her awesomeness. Sophia plays the Narrator. They are all A++ in my book! The song is awesome, the costumes are great, I love how each girl moves like each specific barnyard fowl (though Rose does it the best).

Also, once you've watched it through a few times, go to 4:06. Dorothy's "Help!" is the very bestest.
Also also, Foxxy Loxxy is played by George Hearn, Broadway's original Demon Barber himself, Sweeney Todd. How perfect is it that they end up getting cooked in the end?

Southern, and is explaining to Dorothy how genteel and polite and demure

I don't know if I should blame this on Blanche or Rue.
I want to believe these are pyjamas, then it wouldn't be so bad. But why is she wearing fancy heels, earrings and a full face of make up to bed? And yes, I guess Blanche would do all those things, but she would wear a sexier nightgown, with a dressing robe that flutters around her. So did Rue decide "Today I'm getting my pictures re-done, I should wear my pink polka dot pyjamas with the huge shoulder pads!".
Now this, this is the type of thing I expect from Rue/Blanche. Brue? Branche? A pink feathery monstrosity makes perfect sense. Sexxay!
Ok, GG's were older, white ladies and 277 were middle aged to older black ladies, but lets just check this out:
Dorothy and Mary: Stern, bossy, somewhat domineering. Intelligent, kind hearted, opinionated. Strong characters, head of the household.
Blanche and Sandra: Man crazy sluts. Crazy Southern accent and "Hi Maaaary!' Youngest of the group, most stylish. Selfish and stubborn, but will eventually come around.
Rose and Rose: The nice ones. Positive, giving spirits, kind. Easy going, somewhat old fashioned. Both named "Rose".
Sophia and Pearl: Old.
Also, they all live together. The GG's shared a house, 227 shared a building (and spent a hell of a lot of time on the stoop, the laundry room and Mary's appartment).
Both Dorothy and Mary have tall husbands-but that's the only similarity between Stan and Lester.
Season 4, Episode 23: Rites if Spring : In this episode Sophia states she has never weighed more than 100 pounds
in her life. Yet in Season 7, Episode 9: Ro$e Love$ Mile$ Sophia finds a list of things she
wanted to accomplish in her life, on the list it says lose 200
pounds... and Sophia says, "did it!"
Rose looks like some sort of Nazi Dominatrix, which would have been an interesting twist ending to the series. For the longest time I thought that was a swastika on her arm, but on closer inspection it seems to be the infinity symbol. Fitting, since White is apparently never going to die.
