I don't know if I should blame this on Blanche or Rue.
I want to believe these are pyjamas, then it wouldn't be so bad. But why is she wearing fancy heels, earrings and a full face of make up to bed? And yes, I guess Blanche would do all those things, but she would wear a sexier nightgown, with a dressing robe that flutters around her. So did Rue decide "Today I'm getting my pictures re-done, I should wear my pink polka dot pyjamas with the huge shoulder pads!".
Now this, this is the type of thing I expect from Rue/Blanche. Brue? Branche? A pink feathery monstrosity makes perfect sense. Sexxay!

Golden Signatures
Just in case you want to forge a Doctors note or a mortgage application...
Rue might not be able to spell her own name
Where the hell are Sophia's glasses? Who picked this picture?
Bea is either wearing a nightgown or bathrobe whilst reading porn. Perfectly normal.
"To Molly- Many thanks- Betty White + Rambo"? "Panda"? "Pants"?
Update: March 25/14
After reading Betty White's If You Ask Me (But You Probably Won't) I have learned it was Panda.

5 Little Facts- Rue McClanahan
- Rue was born Edie-Rue McClanahan. She dropped the "Edie" after she was sent a letter from the US Army letting her know she had been conscripted (apparently she had been mistaken for a boy regularly in her youth, thinking her name was "Eddie").
- Rue has been married 6 times, her ex-husbands are; Tom Bish, Norman Hartweg, Peter DeMaio, Gus Fisher, and Tom Keel. Her sixth husband, Morrow Wilson, was married to her until her death, however they had been estranged since 2009.
- Was a vegan and dedicated animal rights activist.
- She kept every outfit she wore while on "The Golden Girls" and used a majority of them for her everyday wear away from the show.
- Rue was born Feb 21st 1934, in Healdton, OK and died June 3rd 2010, in New York, NY.

Rue's Broadway Debut
Our dearest Blanche... er, I mean Rue, got her Broadway start in a play that no one has ever heard of, Jimmy Shine. The year was 1969 and a young Dustin Hoffman had just starred in The Graduate, and then for some reason taken a role in this play (nobody ever heard of). It apparently did well (considering nobody's ever heard of it) and our lovely Rue had a co-starring role as Sally Weber, the girl who Jimmy is in love with.
The play sounds dull. If singing lions aren't trying to kill each other, or green woman aren't dangling from the ceiling I just ain't interested! The only reason I brought this up at all? To share these pictures!
Sexy, sexy all the way.
*Special trivia: Rue actually did co-star in the flying green woman show, playing Madam Morrible in May 2005*

So Blanche is Steve's Grandma?
I never would have guessed, he doesn't sound one bit Southern.
Season 3, Episode 1 : Blue's Big Treasure Hunt. If you couldn't have guessed, it's about a treasure hunt...a big one. Also starring the voices of Carol Kane and Gregory Hines.

Rue McClan-a-can!
In 1968 our lovely Rue had a starring role in what appears to be a pretty small time movie, Walk the Angry Beach. It's the story of Sandy; a woman who moves to Hollywood to become an actress but ends up becoming a stripper. Rue plays Sandy, and this was quite early in her career.
I have never seen this classic piece of crap, so I can't really review it. However I have been able to find several clips of her now famous stripping scene. However, all of the uploads either contain "new" music or have people chitter chatting on top of them. I'm posting the latter, and I think it's a MST3 clip.
I love the comparison between Rue's bum and a Victorian couch, and the whole Art Garfunkel stripping thing.
I don't know if she's just in character or not, but Rue looks quite uncomfortable here. She may not have today's version of "sexy stripper body", but I think she looks pretty damn good. Not the best dancer in the world though!

5 Little Facts
- In the pilot episode Blanche's last name is Hollingsworth, not Devereaux. It is revealed later that Blanche's maiden name was Hollingsworth, her married name was Devereaux.
- It was not originally in the script for Blanche to have a Southern accent, Rue McClanahan was told to speak with her original Alabama accent. Rue thought the accent was unappealing, and wanted Blanche to be over-the-top Southern.
- In the episode "Wham, Bam, Thank You Mammy", Blanche's full name is revealed to be "Blanche Marie Hollingsworth", but in a later episode she says her full name is "Blanche Elizabeth Devereaux", making her initials B.E.D.
- Though it is widely believed that Blanche's age is never actually revealed, in an episode called "Mother's Day", it is shown in a flashback that Blanche was 17 in 1949. That would make her 53 years old when the series began in 1985 and 60 when it ended in 1992.However, if you asked Blanche I'm sure she'd tell you she was 29.
- Blanche's name was taken from Blanche DuBois, another timeless Southern Belle from "A Streetcar Named Desire"

Rue with a Pearl Earring
Ah, yes. Another Golden take on some classic art. This time we have the Blanche version of Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer's masterwork "Girl with a Pearl Earring".
It actually works quite well, no?
And here's the original

Our favourite old ladies when they were youngsters
Bea Arthur: looking serious as ever, but to my surprise she was actually a quite lovely looking young lady. Bea has always reminded me of my Oma, and even in this picture the resemblance is striking.
Rue McClanahan: Yep. Sexy. That apple looks rotten though...
Betty White:She looked old even when she was young, didn't she?
